A facelift is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure that can help rejuvenate your appearance. Also known as a rhytidectomy, a facelift involves removing excess skin and fatty tissue from the face and neck. It can help correct sagging skin, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.

Additionally, the underlying muscles can be tightened to further improve the results of the procedure. A facelift can help you look younger and fresher, without sacrificing your natural features. You will be able to have more confidence in yourself and regain a younger appearance.

The facelift can be performed on the oval of the face and often on the neck. It is associated with other rejuvenation procedures (blepharoplasty, for example). Lipofilling is almost always necessary because rejuvenation is based both on a firming procedure to correct sagging and on filling in areas that have lost volume. The treatment plan is decided with the patient during the preparatory consultation(s).

Procedure of the intervention

IThe facelift is performed under general anesthesia. The incisions are made in inconspicuous places, usually along the hairline and behind the ears.

Sometimes an incision is also made under the chin. The skin is lifted, excess fat is eliminated and slack muscles are tightened. The skin is then re-draped and any excess skin is removed.

The incisions are closed with fine stitches, which are usually removed after 5-7 days. A facelift can look very natural and make you look 10-15 years younger. Facelifts can be combined with other procedures such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or facial lipofilling to achieve an even more dramatic transformation.

Anesthesia is an important part of any surgery, as it helps ensure patient safety and comfort. General anesthesia plunges the patient into a state close to sleep, but today the techniques allow an extremely rapid and gentle recovery without any discomfort.

The operation itself usually lasts 3 to 4 hours.

During this time, the surgeon makes incisions in the skin, then works on the deep planes of the muscles and tissues. These are the most successful "Deep Plane" facelift techniques practiced by Dr. Veber. This allows for a more natural and long-lasting result. In some cases, fat may also be removed from the area. Once the procedure is complete, the skin is carefully sutured and the scars are placed where they can be easily concealed.

Results: Before /After

Duration, hospitalization, after face lift

The hospital stay is 24 hours. You will be discharged the day after the operation without a dressing, except for a specific operation on the neck where you can sometimes be taken care of on an outpatient basis during the day.

The pain is usually minimal and fleeting, and is very well controlled by painkillers. You will feel a feeling of tension, as if you were in a straitjacket, due to the re-tensioning of the SMAS.

You may not be comfortable bending or turning your head for a few weeks while the repositioned muscle structures loosen up. The face may be a little swollen for a few days.

Symptoms usually disappear within 3 to 6 weeks. Also, the scars become less red and less visible after a few months. Patients are usually able to return to work within two weeks of the procedure.
