Presentation

Initially a University Professor and Hospital Surgeon in Orthopaedic and Traumatological Surgery at the Académie de Lyon and the University of Saint-Etienne (France), Professor Jean-Luc RHENTER currently practices in French-speaking Switzerland on the Lake Geneva region and occasionally in France, Italy and Russia, as part of the Centre International de Chirurgie Orthopédique Traumatologique et Sportive (CICOTS) which he runs with his team.

A pioneer in many areas of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine, his experience and the surgical and preventive techniques he has developed have earned him the position of surgeon to many top athletes in all sports, and in particular to major soccer teams (Sampdoria di Genova, AS Roma).

This has enabled him to develop original surgical techniques for osteoarthritis, particularly of the knee and ankle, with Cartilage Grafting and Custom Prostheses, especially of the Knee and Hip.

He is also the originator of numerous other surgical techniques, some of which are used worldwide, such as :

  • Dual mobility cups for hip prostheses

  • Multi-bundle repair of cruciate ligaments

  • Meniscal grafts

  • Posterolateral knee support repairs

  • Ankle laxity repairs

  • Hallux Valgus corrections without metal hardware

  • Major coiffure repairs
